Hello from Kin Loch Wedding Venue!

My name is Alex Plante. My husband and I moved from Brooklyn to Buffalo in late 2016 with a dream to start a lavender farm. We always wanted a barn on the property that would be home to small, intimate gatherings. We searched and searched for the right piece of property. In 2018, we finally purchased 30 beautiful acres of Niagara farmland. The planting of over 2,000 lavender plants and building the barn we had envisioned began right away! It’s crazy to see our dream come to life. Now we get to watch couples celebrate one of the most important days of their lives under the eaves of our barn.
In gaelic “kin” means family and “loch” means lake. Kin Loch Farmstead’s mission is to be a place where families can come together to be united and make special memories, right on our farm nestled between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.
With a style is unique – rustic, modern, eclectic, vintage, we understand that it’s not for everyone, and that is okay. But for the people that it is for… it is PERFECT. We are looking for that special couple who wants a barn with unique taste & personality. Rather than being a barn for a country BBQ hoedown wedding, ours is a barn for the modern boho couple. This is a venue for a couple who wants a memorable wedding that stands out amongst all the ballrooms and venue halls.

On our farm we produce honey and lavender products that we sell year-round either in our shop, or online. We care about our neighbors and our local environment. We use organic farming products and are focused on producing as little waste as possible. The products that we make are sourced directly from our farm. Also, in partnership with local goat farms, apiaries, wineries, and the like. We believe in the saying “a rising tide lifts all boats.” We do not consider other businesses to be competitors, rather we feel that the more we can help each other, then the greater we all succeed.

The Kin Loch wedding venue is one-of-a-kind and was built to feel modern and yet rustic at the same time. We took special care to ensure it has enough details to have a personality, but enough openness to be a blank slate for couples. Our farm is almost fully enclosed by trees, making it a very private experience. This is why most people do not even know our barn exists! This was intentional. We love to see the pleasant surprise on people’s faces when they drive down our long driveway to suddenly see our cute barn smiling at them. It’s as if the barn is saying, “Shhh don’t tell anyone that we’re here! We’re going to have a special party tonight that only WE know about!”
The barn and farm are casual, but with a high-end feel. We want couples to feel like their wedding is a fancy event at a place that is fun and casual where they can take off their shoes, sit by the bonfire, and dance like no one is watching because… literally no one can see our barn, so no one is watching! We do not host multiple events at one time, nor do we allow the public onto our property, so it truly is a private experience. The max capacity is 130 people, so we aim to have smaller events that feel like an intimate experience with your closest loved ones.
