We asked one of our newest members, Silk Bridal some questions to get to know them a little better!
What makes your service/product different from the others in WNY?
At Silk Bridal our brides become part of our family. We know that it’s not just about picking a beautiful dress, but the experience of searching for the bridal gown that is such an important part of the entire wedding process. From the moment our brides walk through our door, it’s our goal to make this process fun, exciting and memorable. Our stylists take time to get to know their brides at a personal level, so that we can find the perfect dress that embodies their unique vision. From selecting the gown and choosing a veil, incorporating sentimental family heirlooms and styling shoes, jewelry, hair and makeup, we love to see the whole look come together! We also offer in house alterations by our team of master tailors, to ensure the perfect fit for your wedding day. We create a support system for our brides that is incomparable, so whether they need help choosing jewelry, or just need to vent for a few minutes, we are here from the moment they choose their gown, to the second they say ‘I Do’.
How did you get started, and what does being a part of the wedding industry mean to you?
Silk Bridal is part of the Thimble Tailor family of businesses. Thimble Tailor has been specializing in tailoring for our local community for the past 40+ years. At the time our owners, Fatima and Tufan, purchased the family business from their father, Thimble was tailoring over 100 wedding gowns a year, which made Silk Bridal an organic addition. However, Silk truly came to life when Fatima began searching for her own wedding gown. She could not find what she wanted in her gown locally, and thought that other brides must be experiencing this too. Silk was officially open one year later. We love that we are able to not only help brides find their dream gown, but also tailor it to perfection and customize tailoring to each individual brides needs.
The local wedding industry is so incredible and we love that we get to work with not only our brides, but also collaborate with the photographers, florists, venues and so many other amazing local businesses and vendors!
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Finding the perfect dress for your wedding day is an incredible moment in a woman’s life and one that she will never forget. We feel honored that we get to be apart of that experience and help to make it everything our brides deserve and more! It is truly rewarding knowing that we made our bride feel their most beautiful on their special day. It’s an extremely special connection we get to make with our brides. We love that we are able to build friendships with these incredible women that lasts beyond the wedding day.
What kind of bride is a Silk Bride?
At Silk Bridal, we are able to cater to all brides. Our favorite part of what we do is that we love and appreciate all dresses, from full tulle ballgowns, to romantic lace fit and flares and sophisticated satin sheaths! When brides walk in and want to feel like a princess, we love that just as much as when brides ask to feel feminine and sophisticated. We hand pick gowns for our showroom each season from our exclusive designers to curate a unique selection of dresses. We choose gowns that we feel will capture the true vision and individuality of each one of our brides. No two brides are alike and we look to celebrate individuality and uniqueness through this process.
