Kristen + Scott’s At Home Rustic Buffalo Wedding

Rustic wedding in front of a field of sunflowers

Kristen & Scott wanted an outdoor rustic Buffalo wedding with beautiful surroundings. Ever since Kristen was a little girl, she dreamed of getting married in front of a field of sunflowers. As luck would have it, that location just so happened to be her grandparent’s beautiful backyard in Alden, NY. Coincidence or fate that their next-door neighbors lived in Scott’s childhood home?

There is something said about having your wedding at home because it holds sentimental memories, and what better moment to add to the mix than a wedding. When Lauren, from Events by Lauren Marie, first visited the property, it was a wet, fall day when there wasn’t a lot to see: the trees were bare, and the sunflower field was empty.

Despite not seeing them in bloom, she could visualize the setting, and it was stunning. The pond was gorgeous, with endless space. It also helped that Lauren would pass that field every day on her way to school as a child; those sunflowers were going to be showstoppers. What sold the space was the love story behind it. Generations of families came together to celebrate their children growing up together as neighbors and then falling in love.

The ceremony was soft and romantic. It was set between the beautiful pond and the flower field. The decor, along with everything else was spectacular. Soft blush fabric draped over the homemade arbor, while white rose petals adorned the green grass, peaking through. The groomsmen’s light blue suits paired perfectly with the violet & pale pink dresses the bridal party donned, adding to the visual intoxication. The highlight of the ceremony was the family pup, who walked down the aisle as part of the bridal party, complete with her flower collar.

Kristen and Scott wanted to bring a fun, laid-back, rustic wedding to their Buffalo backyard. They wanted it to feel like the countless family parties hosted on the property growing up, and they succeeded. The reception took place under a gorgeous tent with bistro lighting, with rustic farm tables placed on the grass for family and friends to gather. The couple jazzed up their guestbooks with providing their guests with polaroid cameras with signs saying, “Please snap a photo for our guestbook.” Lawn games like Giant Jenga and cornhole, customized with the couple’s wedding date, placed around the property kept guests entertained. The fun continued when Frank Gourmet Hot Dogs and Mikey Dee’s food trucks arrived to serve guests their dinner.

The night capped off with dancing all night long into the warm August night. Guests enjoyed smores by a fire next to the family pond. The couple had a spectacular sparkler send-off. If you dream it, Events by Lauren Marie can make it a reality.
