Camille + Paul’s Real Rochester Love Story

“Everything about our wedding was non-traditional but that is how we wanted it! I wouldn’t change a thing.” Camille – Bride.

Camille + Paul | Married August 25, 2018 at Hurd Orchards

Paul and I met through mutual friends a few years ago. We often would see each other out and about around Rochester and spend hours talking each time! After being friends for a few years, I gave Paul my number after running into each other at a Park Ave Fest. Eventually Paul and I connected and our relationship took off from there! Our first date was a brunch date at Simply Crepes. Last year, Paul and I were traveling to Israel for my sister’s wedding in Tel Aviv. We spent two weeks exploring the beautiful country of Israel. We rode camels and camped in the South, went to beautiful gardens in the North, played in the Mediterranean and explored Jerusalem. We didn’t want our amazing vacation to end so we stopped in Paris for a quick weekend on the way back. Paul proposed to me next to the Seine River that flows through Paris on our last evening in Paris! There are so many favorite moments of our wedding day. Doing a first look immediately was both fun and practical for our timeline, and after seeing Paul, I immediately felt relaxed. I wasn’t even nervous by the time the ceremony came. I really do attribute that to being able to spend time with Paul before the ceremony. He’s my person and best friend and just being around him puts me at ease. I loved the moment the ceremony was over and our closest friends and family showered us with rose petals as we processed down the aisle! I felt a giant wave of relief and was ready to enjoy the rest of the party. My other favorite moments from our wedding day are being raised up in the air in a chair as I held on for dear life on the dance floor, and our beautiful sparkler send-off at the end of the night! Everything about our wedding was non-traditional but that is how we wanted it! I wouldn’t change a thing. Every detail of the wedding was personal and meaningful. The food was not your traditional wedding food- everything was farm to table! Hurd Orchards is a beautiful fruit and flower farm so as you can imagine, the food was out of this world impressive. I always told the ladies at Hurd I wanted our wedding to feel like an elegant garden party in the English countryside, and the Hurd Orchards team did not disappoint! The wedding was beautiful, romantic, elegant and intimate. My sister officiated the wedding and wrote the most heartfelt ceremony I could’ve imagined. Having my sister officiate was the best ceremony decision! Before the wedding, so many people were surprised to hear that she would be officiating our wedding but it was the most magical, memorable detail.  She interviewed both of us to gather information- she wanted to know what we loved about each and why we had chosen each other. Her resulting address was personalized, heartfelt, interesting and funny. There was absolutely nothing generic about it. I’m a DIYer at heart and love to make things. However, for my wedding, I only took on small, realistic projects that would add a special touch to the wedding! I painted and designed the escort cards with watercolors, designed ceremony programs and signage, and made rose petal holders out of doilies for the ceremony! I thoughtfully chose every detail of the wedding, from the coordinating bridesmaid dresses to the string quartet music selections for the ceremony, to choosing the most amazing photographers and videographer, to picking my favorite flowers (that Hurd planted just for us!), to the sparkler send-off at the end of the night. Our cocktail hour and reception were unique as well- We had an amazing singer that plays acoustic guitar play during our outdoor cocktail hour. The barn doors opened to reveal a beautifully decorated historic interior to our guests and he sang “Nothing can change this love” by Sam Cooke for our first dance. We discovered Steve West (our musician) years ago at Brown Hound playing at Brunch on Sundays and just knew we would need his card someday. Everything came together perfectly. It was the best day and I could not be more grateful that everything went so well, everyone had so much fun and I got to marry my best friend.
