My husband, Kevin, and I met on “Hallowine”, which is a Halloween-themed wine tour in Niagara County. He was dressed as the hockey lockout (it was 2012 and there was no hockey!) and I was a punk rocker. (You can see the proof in our signature cocktail artwork!) I used to work at Disney as a photographer and always said I wanted my engagement captured. For my birthday last year, Kevin gave me clues which lead to the discovery that my birthday present was a trip to Disney in March. Since he had a work conference that weekend, he was sending me with my niece, Lyndsey. He already purchased our flights, figured out sleeping arrangements, and secured a dinner reservation for us at the Beauty and the Beast-themed restaurant, Be Our Guest. Fast forward to the vacation and dinner, as Lyndsey and I were walking out after enjoying a great meal, a Disney employee asked if we wanted to meet the Beast. I was led into a private room and after a few seconds, Kevin appeared and got down on one knee! For our wedding, we didn’t have a cocktail hour and we were announced as soon as the reception began to allow everyone to start partying right away! We wanted to spread out the traditional wedding activities so people weren’t sitting for long periods of time so after the band’s first set, we did the first dances. Then the band broke off into a jazz trio and dinner stations were opened. After the jazz trio, we did the cake cutting and toasts. After the band’s second set, we did the Unveiling Ceremony. Since we did not do a first look, my favorite moment was seeing his reaction when I walked down the aisle. My second favorite moment was having the entire bridal party sneak onto the ice at Canalside for a group photo before we got kicked off. It really just captured the essence of the day. My third favorite moment was enjoying some awesome Fat Bob’s BBQ for our wedding meal. Among the many stations, we had a macaroni and cheese station with any topping you can think of…yum! Our goal for this wedding was to have a true Buffalo wedding full of life, good food, and lots of dancing. We wanted to make as many traditions our own, so we painted on canvas for our unity ceremony, the ring bearer was pulled on a sleigh down the aisle, and we toasted with a traditional Polish liquor, Krupnik!
